The United States of America

Location: New York

In the city that never sleeps Yelo is a unique wellness concept for stressed out New Yorkers which extols the benefits of the power nap (or YeloNap® as it has been re-branded here). Creator Nicolas Ronco was a travelling businessman on the verge of burnout when he discovered the rewards reflexology and a daytime sleep. Yelo does not call itself a spa because water is not used in the treatments offered. But the end result is the same: relaxation and rejuvenation in very large helpings. A nap of between 20 and 40 minutes has been medically proven to increase alertness and productivity. Treatments at Yelo take place in private honeycomb-shaped cocoons (YeloCabs®) that can be customised in terms of music, lighting and scent. Within each YeloCab® is a YeloChair® designed to position the legs above the heart. This slows the pulse and produces a feeling of weightlessness encouraging the body to settle quickly into a natural state of deep relaxation. A standard treatment consists of a calming half-hour reflexology session, which may include pressure to reflex points on the hands and ears as well as to the feet, followed by a half-hour nap - simple but incredibly effective.

Quintessentially Insider
Yelo is not just for New York's frazzled workforce, Yelo's Travelade treatment is specifically designed for International jet-setters. A 10-minute head, neck and shoulder massage followed by 30 minutes of reflexology and a 20-minute nap is a perfect antidote to jet lag.
